The Diary Of A Food Blogger

I had such a good day yesterday. Its 7:19am and I'm making a blog post because I finally know what I want to make posts about. Eureka moments are golden, I should document them more.

This is still a review so let’s just get into it.

Porte Jaune Restaurant

Started my day out at D’avenue Boutique Hotel (Porte Jaune Restaurant). Its located in Haatso . The restaurant opens at 6:30am(because of the hotel) however it’s pretty empty from morning up till about 2pm. I had cocktails there about two days before this visit so it's safe to say that by 7pm, the place is pretty full.

The cocktails were good, very good actually. The virgin options available were the usual mojito, Pina colada, and strawberry daiquiri. The pina colada was very rich this was
refreshing knowing that it was worth the money. The daiquiri was sweet and the combination of the slush form and relatively large glass makes it a good option if you’d like to have a chat over drinks. The menu is available here.

The hotel is sophisticated yet welcoming; even as it got busier, the service staff were still attentive.

The food wait time was about 45minutes but there were a lot of pretty spots for pictures especially the bar, frontage, and poolside. I was well occupied.

Swimming costs 200gh. It’s a private pool hence the price.

My date ordered Oxtail  Mijote with Chili Soup and a side of mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were just right. Creamy and not too soft. The oxtail was tender and the sauce complimented it well enough.

The breakfast was a little disappointing. It tasted good but it looked like I was just given what was available. I wasn't given the liberty of making my own choices out of the options given. My meal also lacked the baked beans and choice of a spread.

Fika Teahouse

I finally tried boba tea at Fika teahouse in Labone. It’s a cute spot and has limited seating. It’s advisable to prebook or to just preorder and pickup. I ordered the popular caramel lotus and aurora. The caramel lotus tasted like malt and milk biscuits. I loved it. Aurora is a sweet cocktail with citrus hints and it’s a good option if you don’t want any milk products. It tasted like something from my childhood but I can’t quite place the taste yet.

Boba is supple on the outside and chewy all the way through to the middle with a tiny increase in stiffness. Im looking forward to trying  other flavors.

The next stop was East End Bistro but it was closed so hopefully, I’ll go back another day.

Indulge Accra

Indulge. This was the highlight of my day. The best dates are the unplanned ones. I ran into another food blogger, Salma. In case you've been wondering where I happen to find all these new places, the answer lies on her instagram page. We decided to join tables and do a joint review. It was nice discussing the pros and cons of food blogging and for some reason, finding out that I'm not the only person who gets asked "so do you pay for the food?" was comforting. A more detailed account of this experience will be posted soon!

Mood Bar

Ended the night at Mood Bar. It’s a nice hang-out spot and I like that it has good seating. I
was pretty tired so I didn’t stay long but here are some links to picturesvideos , and reviews of this place.

All the menus are available here.  Happy roaming!
